Pasadena High School

I am in the process of digging up my old photos of student work from Pasadena High School, but in the meantime, I do have this PDF of a collage I created of students working on group projects.  There is an installation piece that was at Pasadena's ArtNight exhibit titled Tree of Jams.  This piece was showcased at ArtCenter College of Art and Design, a school where many of my students were accepted into, as well as, Otis College of Art & Design.  There is also photos of students working on backdrops for a theater piece and others making giant puppet heads.

Luis, a once quiet student, created these amazing black and white pen drawings.  Spring break was approaching and he had a metamorphosis assignment due.  I handed him over a small water color paint kit, some paper, and told him to go home and start working with color.  He hesitated, reminded me about how he hated color, but he took the kit and said he'd give it a try.  He returned with this incredible, morphed creature and with a whole new outlook for color.  Year after year Luis's work progressed and he went from being the shy student to a fantastic member of the Art Club.  Luis was accepted at Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles and has since worked for Sony Animation and currently is the lead 2D Designer at WayForward Technologies.  WayForward Technologies is one of the oldest and leading gaming designers. Some examples of WayForward games are Adventure Time, Shantae, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Transformers to name a few.  When I told Luis how much I loved this piece, he gave it to me and it hangs proudly on my wall.
